You can now receive professional, therapeutic support right from the comfort of your own home.
It is important for you to consider the following, to ensure you get the best possible experience from online counselling:
A Strong wifi signal – in order to get the strongest signal, it may help if you ask others to not download or stream while you are having your session.
Mircophone and web cam
Private space to talk – It is important that you have a space where you will not be interrupted and can feel comfortable to open up and talk. For most people being within their home or office is fine. However, for others, they may need to go to their car or perhaps a quiet space outdoors which can also work.
Headphones – (optional) This allows you increased privacy and ability to focus on the session.
Video conferencing software – I use Zoom which is free to download and use here
Payments can be made by PayPal, bank transfer or stripe. Payments are to be made and cleared prior to the start of your sessions.
I use video conferencing software that is securely encrypted. Each session has a new randomly generated number and password to increase this level of privacy. My laptop is highly secured with added security and privacy software. However, it is strongly recommended that the device you may use for your counselling sessions also has security software installed.
Once you have booked and paid for your session, you will receive an email inviting you to your online counselling session via Zoom about 5-10 minutes prior to the session commencing. Each session will have a different link to increase privacy. Click on the link in the email and it should take you directly to the room.
If you are unfamiliar with Zoom, I recommend downloading the software and gaining some familiarity prior to the session. If you would like more information or support with that, please let me know and I will send you some extra information.
Numerous studies and NHS research has found that online counselling or remote therapy to be just as effective as face to face counselling.
No problem, I work with clients from all over the world! However, due to certain countries differing laws we may have to use alternative video conferencing software. Just let me know where you are residing when you book your first appointment and I can let you know what alternatives are available.
**Please note, that due to the strict and complex licencing laws in North America, I may not be able to work with clients living in the USA or Canada.
